Vacation Zanzibar

Discover the tropical paradise in the Indian Ocean!

Extend your Tanzania vacation to Zanzibar

Zanzibar is a world of its own. The island has long been considered a place of longing. In fact, this popular island has not been part of what is now the country of Tanzania for very long. Tanzania is made up of the parts Tanganyika and Zanzibar, from which the current country name is derived. In Zanzibar, you find a uniquely diverse Swahili tradition that culminates from a mixture of Persian, Indian, Arab and East African coastal cultures blended-in by centuries of historical integration.

What makes Zanzibar so special?

Let us inspire you too!

Today, it is the exotic mix of tropical beaches, exotic markets, oriental flair and traces of an eventful history that make a stay on Zanzibar so enticing.

A wide variety of spices and fruits thrive on this tropical island. The name conjures up images of paradise on earth. The alleyways of Stone Town exude Arabian flair and goods are haggled over loudly at the market here and there.

Zanzibar will also undoubtedly impress you with its culinary delights, as Arabs, Indians and Europeans alike brought their culinary habits to the tropical island. The food is a colorful mixture of stews, curries and, of course, tasty fish dishes – and always with the addition of the many spices that thrive so abundantly on Zanzibar. While most safari guests focus on the large mammals on the Tanzanian mainland, Zanzibar is a fascinating island with a rich marine fauna, including bottlenose dolphins, humpback whales and sea turtles.
